Our vision & values

Our aim is simple: to be one of the UK’s most trusted engineering manufacturers and suppliers for pipework, structural steelwork and specialist fabricated products.

That ambition is built on values that still shape how we work today.

Excellence
We set high standards in design, fabrication, testing and installation, because our clients rely on us for critical applications.

Innovation
We look for better ways to solve engineering challenges, improve fabrication methods and support more efficient project delivery.

Unity
We work closely with clients, contractors, suppliers and our own people to keep projects moving and problems solved early.

Personal service
We are professional, responsive and easy to deal with. Clients get clear communication and practical support from start to finish.

Responsibility
We take our responsibilities seriously — to our workforce, our customers, the public and the environments we work in.

Our heritage

George Green was founded in 1900 and first became known for manufacturing foundry equipment in Yorkshire and across the UK. As the business grew, we expanded our capability, moved to our purpose-built site in Keighley and widened our offer into other areas of engineering and fabrication.

Over time, that diversification led to major work in large-bore pipework, structural steelwork and mechanical engineering for the water sector and other industries. Today, we continue to build on that heritage by combining proven engineering knowledge with modern workshop capability and a practical, solutions-led approach.

Our history

1900s

George Green was founded as a foundry engineering business, manufacturing furnaces, foundry tools and other equipment for metal casting.

1930s

The company expanded into a broader range of engineered products, building its reputation for practical manufacturing and dependable workmanship.

1960s

We moved to our current site on Parkwood Street in Keighley, giving the business the space and facilities needed to support long-term growth.

1970s

As the business diversified further, we began supplying a wider range of steelwork, including pipework for water industry applications.

1990s

The company evolved into George Green (Keighley) Ltd, reflecting a broader offer spanning design, fabrication, supply and installation across multiple engineering disciplines.

2000s

Since the turn of the century, we have increasingly supported major water-sector pipework projects and supplied engineered products for oil, gas and petrochemical applications.

Health & safety

Health and safety is central to the way we work. We are committed to protecting our employees, customers, contractors and the public, and we continuously review our practices to maintain high standards across workshop and site activities.

Our approach includes:

  • Working to relevant legislation, regulations and project-specific requirements
  • Using trained personnel to prepare method statements and risk assessments
  • Inspecting, maintaining and certifying equipment appropriately
  • Reviewing working methods regularly to improve safety and reduce risk
  • Promoting a culture where safe working is part of every task, every day

This focus on safe working supports both compliance and reliable project delivery.

External health and safety support

Alongside our internal procedures, we work with specialist external health and safety support to help maintain compliance, review best practice and stay up to date with changes in legislation and guidance.

A safe subcontractor

When working as a subcontractor, we align fully with our client’s site requirements and project controls. This typically includes:

  • Golden rules
  • Operational safety standards
  • Site rules
  • Site environmental rules

That joined-up approach helps projects run more safely, more smoothly and with fewer avoidable issues on site.
