100 years of history
George Green (Foundry Engineers) Ltd was founded in 1900, and at that time as the name suggests the company specialised in the manufacture of foundry equipment including Furnaces, Ladles, Conveyor Systems, and Storage Hoppers for Coal & Limestone.
The company moved to its purpose built present site in the 1960’s and from this time to the early 1970’s George Green’s became one of the largest suppliers of foundry equipment throughout the British Isles, across mainland Europe, Canada & Africa.
However in the late 1970’s George Greens like most Foundry Engineers were hard hit by the rapid decline in the Foundry Industry, brought about by the importing of cheap foreign castings. This meant the company had to diversify into other fields of manufacturing to continue trading.
Around this time the Company made its first foray into the Water Sector, as a major scheme was in progress at a local reservoir, which required provision of large bore pipework and structural steelwork. This was deemed to be the way forward, and George Greens were set up for this type of work.
In 1998 the Company was re-named George Green (Keighley) Ltd and we have been involved in all aspects of mechanical work including Reservoir Tower Refurbishments, Valve Refurbishment, Booster Pumping Stations, Large Bore Pipework, General Safety Work & Half Bridge Scrapers.
